Seasons Change Week 18

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

Every morning on our way to my daughters school  we go past a ranch with a long row of big trees that surely change with the seasons but we hardly notice.  My kids and I have decided to embark on a project that will help us notice that gradual change on the trees.  My daughter Sophia  will take at least a weekly picture after school for a whole year, I will post it on my blog entry on Thursdays and my little one Xavi wants in it too so he will take a picture of some cows from a different ranch and improve his picture taking skills.

This picture was taken on 1-26-11 We're having a mild winter here warm days and chilly mornings.  Mornings that make almost anybody want to stay in bed.  Not a lot of change from last week on these trees.

Cow story:  the cows we used to take pictures of have been missing since December.  Kids are on the lookout!

So back on the cow case, we went back to the scene of the crime and:
The kids looked left,

They looked right! and no cows

But we spotted a couple of horses in another ranch!  Where could those cows have possibly gone??

Seasons Change Week 17

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

You would certainly think these trees are dead!  or that they need some water, well I say we do need some rain  because this weekend and the beginning of this week we had summer like temperatures. Picture taken on 1-18-11

Cow story: the cows we used to take pictures of have been missing since December.  Kids are on the lookout!

No cows to be seen yet, so we decided to stop by the golf course.

Of course they had to pose for the camera instead of looking for the cows

No, no where to be seen!  But let's play a little golf shall we?

Sophia's  Birthday is this Saturday, she will be nine yrs old!  We're having a small party on Sunday!  The kids are very excited  Xavi said last night before going to bed "can't wait for the party!"  Happy weekend my friends!

Starting next week this seasons change post will be moved to Thursdays because I found  a post  idea that I loved and  hopefully you will too!

What to buy on a Wednesday...Hot winter days

Yes,  hot winter days that is exactly what we're having here in California! People packed the beaches since we had a three day weekend MLK, I'd go but I am not a really beach person I hate eating sandwiches full of sand!   So instead I made an etsy search with the words 'hot winter days' and this is what I came up with:

Tagged as: winter and hot chocolate by CreatingNature

Tagged as: warm winter attire and spice hot romance by MegansMenagerie

Tagged as: carmin hot red, fall autumn winter by bayanhypo

Tagged as: winter fall autumn by SimpleHearted

Tagged as: fall winter warm by lilithist

Tagged as: winter, hot pink, winter fashion by JaquelinesCreations

Interesting combination don't you think??  Not really what you would take to the beach but I rather stay home and hope for a more convincing winter!

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

I cry...

I cry when I feel hopeless, helpless and vulnerable.  I cried last night.  But I know it's good for the soul and it surely gets me closer to God.

Seasons Change Week 16

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

Every morning on our way to my daughters school  we go past a ranch with a long row of big trees that surely change with the seasons but we hardly notice.  My kids and I have decided to embark on a project that will help us notice that gradual change on the trees.  My daughter Sophia  will take at least a weekly picture after school for a whole year, I will post it on my blog entry on Fridays and my little one Xavi wants in it too so he will take a picture of some cows from a different ranch and improve his picture taking skills.

This picture was taken on  1-11-11 No leaves on most of the trees.  I ask myself if these few trees will also loose the leaves?  I forgot from last year!

As far as the cows...can you believe me and Xavi spotted some cows while driving!  They were being transported as precious cargo in a long semi truck.  Now, we are now sure if those were our cows and we did not have our little camera handy! I asked Xavi where do you think they them? and he replied "to jail" too funny... When Sophia got out of school we kept on looking.

In search for the cows, the kids visited Tahquitz High , their sister's High school where she is a ninth grader.  Sophia took along her Pony named Diamond.

They searched on the administration building!

Diamond got hungry and had to be fed while Sophia brushed her hair!

Finally they looked in the gymnasium with no luck!  They have to start the search in a different place now!
The kids are really starting to like this adventure and ask me everyday!  Are we taking pictures today?

Have a lovely weekend!

What to buy on a Wednesday...My brother the Fisherman

Today is my baby brother's birthday!  not so baby anymore!  at 200 lbs 5' 11" he  turns 37 today, he has always been my friend and my protector and I love him dearly.  He loves fishing and he does it every time he gets a chance and I mean it e-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e.  So I searched etsy for some special fisherman gear, items or things he might enjoy and this is what I found:

This is my brother the fisherman his son Ivan on the left and my sister's son Isaac on the right!  Cute boys aren't they??

I don't know much about fishing but I know it should be relaxing and you need a good destination such as this one.  Casco Bay Sunrise Photography by douglevy

A good book would help too, I'm sure!  To pass time and to brush up on things and learn some more...this vintage book "How to Catch Fish and Make Them Strike" available on honeystreasures shop.

Ok, so he might also be needing a fishing lure...decor or gift I can stare at it all day ummmm Whitman's chocolate!  Fishing lure by teddmacdonah

A good couple of coffee mugs would help ease the cold and enjoy time.  Fishermen Trout and Bass Coffee Mugs by bradgoodell

So what happens if he gets back home and he gets no fish!  Well he can watch at this Hand carved Rainbow trout wall hanging by inspiredbymarie and get more inspiration for next time!

And finally I thought these great Fishing boxes would be nice to decorate his room!  They're small but they look awesome and fit for a fisheman.  Decorative boxes by 4yourlake

I end this post with this quote:

It was nice growing up with someone like you - someone to lean on, someone to count on...someone to tell on!  ~  Unknown

I love you Eduardo!

Broken glasses

My sweet Sophia has been wearing glasses ever since she was a kinder gardener.  I have always taught her to take good care of her belongings .  But no matter how careful she is at least twice a year those precious glasses need to get replaced.  I remember the very first time she came home with her broken glasses in an envelope.  She said "I'm sorry mommy"  with a sad face.  I just hugged her.   We have learned over the course of the years to keep a spare at home 'just in case'.  Of course accidents happen and yesterday she came home with broken glasses again.  She offered to pay for the new pair.  Ain't she the sweetest??  This time a tether ball right in the face ouch!!, next time who knows...time will tell.
